dizzy Spell

40 yr old female tall average weight patient came due to acute dizziness for 1 month.

James: "how is your appetite and digestion?"

pt: "fine except for chronic constipation and sl nausea at times."

James: "when is your dizziness worst?"

pt: " before menstruation"

other s/s: sl fatigue around 5 pm, hot flashes, excessive sweating in palms and feet worse with anxiety occasional palpitation good appetite pms pain

upon palpation, left side ST 25 area is tender.

TX: LV2 - HT 8- LV 8 +

left side st 25 tenderness is almost gone.

Tennis Elbow for 3 months

40 yr female with tennis elbow for 3 months. extreme pain whenever she uses her right arm. she injured her right elbow while lifting something too heavy 3 months ago.

exam: upon palpation right side LI 11 area is tender.

tx: Left LI 11 (about half cun lateral)-master Tong
right side LI 4

pain decreased about 50 %

SI 6 to SJ 5 (master Tong) left side

right elbow "feels 80% better"

Complex Headache

patient came to my office complaining of acute headache. headache is located near UB 1 and UB 2 taiyang points bilaterally along with occipital area. she always had sinus headache (UB 1 2 area) but tai yang and occipital headache is something new -- they came after her recent miscarriage.
her height and weight is average she does not have any accidents or injuries to her neck or head.

s/s: dissiness when she stands up from sitting position/sl cold body temp./ sinus allergies (dust)/ feel uncomfortable pressure in the ear/ she has been feeling nervous and anxious since miscarriage/ palpitations/ neck stiffness

tx: si ma all three points bilaterally --> UB 1 UB 2 headache is gone.

2nd visit: same tx as the first visit

3rd visit: sinus headache is gone but still she suffers from occipital and taiyang headache. LV 8 KD 10 + neck pain is better along with taiyang and occipital headache.

4 th visit: her mood is much better. overall headache is much better.
LV 8 KD 10 + again (miscarriage leading to LV deficiency)

GB/SI

a lady came with bilateral knee pain for 7 months. she had 6 wks of PT without any improvement. her doctor said she has patillatendonitis. standing walking is painful. icing helps for that moment.
she is average tall and thin. she recalls she was working out more 7 months ago on an elliptical machine.

s/s: insomnia palpitation tenderness at GB 21 SI 11 ashi (1.5 cun medial to ST 35)-tendonitis
cold hand and feet (due to excessive sweating) stuffiness in chest when breath. frequently passing gas.

Dx: SI GB deficiency

Tx: (will SI2- SI3+ GB 41+ UB 66- make her knee feel better? she is thin and knees are better with icing) she also said she was suffering from insomnia for all her life. 'let's go GB'

GB points-master Tong (pain is gone) so far she came 3 x. I did GB points 2x and GB43 + LI 1- once. there is about 50% improvement so far according to patient.

patient came back after 2 months and tells me pain is coming back. knees were ok for a few months and recently it is coming back again and she does not know why.

additional s/s: excessive sweating (arm pit hands) gas in low abd. digestion is fine. cold hands and feet.

tx. si 2 - gb 41 + knees are much better.

so it seems her knee pain was related more to SI then GB

most recent tx:

GB points (master tongs points located in the mid finger) which used to work fine did not work at all for her knees. then tried shenmen (master tongs point about 2 cun distal to the tip of elbow along SI channel) worked like magic. next time she comes I should tonify SI channel again.

Heavy Arms

40 yr old female patient came to my office complaining of acute "heaviness" in her right arm for a couple of wks. she also suffers from stomach acid reflux on occasions. digestion is fine but there is acid reflux when she ingests "wrong food" such as greasy food or too much meat.

more s/s: palpitation thirst is normal bitter taste in mouth SOB sl anxiety freq urination at night swelling in right leg and ankle neck pain with burning sense tai yang headache
cc. numbness in right arm and hand worse in right ring and pinky fingers

she tells me she does yoga and she thinks it might have caused her numbness in her right arm. upon exam, there is slight tenderness around SI 8 in right elbow.

tx. gieneui point (that is from SI 6 to SJ5) without any success
then she keeps complaining of feeling "heavy" in her arm and fingers

(was going to do LV 1 SP 1 - AND SP 2 HT 8 +) but figured shin guan might be ok. tx. Shin Guan--numbness and heaviness is gone.
