inability to open up an eye due to puffiness of an eye lid for 2 days

25 year old lady told me she couldn't open her right eye due to puffiness of right eye lids for 2 days. It all started with itchiness around medial canthus of her right eye.  morning after rubbing her right eye a few times her eye lid was so puffy she couldnt open her right eye.

Other Signs and symptoms

Recently due to frequent period (2-3x in a month) she was on a birth control pill.  then she started having palpitation and nausea without vomitting along with itchy eyes. her hands get clammy (sweaty) all the time especially when she is nervious. fullness in abdomen after meals. often her face gets puffy in the morning. sometimes she gets constipated but it hasnt bothered her recently. overall body temperature is warm.

Treatment
SP3- HT 7 - HT 3+    after an hour her eye lid was no longer puffy and she was able to fully open her eyes. itchiness disappeared as well.

according to classic text upper eye lids are associated with digestive system. especially spleen channel and organ.

55 year old male patient came to my office due to seasonal allergy. (though he told me he has allergic symptoms all year around: itchy eyes esp around medical canthus clogged nose.  right eye is worse than his left eye.  1 week ago when he came home he had to carry something heavy.  starting the night he has been feeling more itchy and veins in his right eyes are red and slightly distended.  He ran to his eye doctor and was told there was nothing they could do...

Other signs and sypmtoms

Chronic constipation, palpitation due to stress and anxiety, sweating too much (when exercising), thin body type, overall body temperature is warm.

Treatment

LU 8 +  LV 2 - HT 8 -   after these needles itchiness diminished about 80% and he was able to breath normally. I advise him to continue with acupuncture once a week for 4 weeks.

Lateral/Medical Epicondylitis and pain in all ligaments for years

45 year old thin lady came to my office due to pain "all over her body" for years. the worst pain is located in right elbow (medial/lateral epicondylitis according to her orthopedic doctor) and inside of her knee (medical collateral ligament of her right knee)

Recently because pain escalated too high she saw her doctor and received a cortisone shot in her elbow but there was no improvement. EMG was performed for right upper extremity.

Other signs and symptoms:
anemic, pale face, cold hands, blurry vision, dizziness when she stands up too quickly (head rush), occasionally waking up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom (to urinate), weakness in all arms and legs but esp in her right arm she can't even hold a cup in her hand. chronic constapation
gnawing pain after meals in her stomach. history of cyst in ovaries. palpitation.

Treatment

LV1+ KD 10-   (about 60% of pain disappeared)

ShinGuan added for numbness and tingling feeling due to EMG

According to classic texts liver channel and organ is related to ligaments.

lateral epicondylitis and arthritic finger for 3 months

50 year old lady tells me she has been suffering from pain in elbow for the last three months. pain is located in her left elbow (lateral). she is also concerned about her left pinky; the distal joint (the last joint of her little finger) is crooked and very painful.

when asked, she tells me she is under a lot of stress recently (for the last three months) often she can't fall asleep or she wakes up too early and can't go back to sleep. she is slighty heavy. she wakes up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom to urinate. she experiences palpitation when she is anxious or stressed. she is slightly constipated sometimes her stool is as hard as a rock. her pain is worse with damp weather... her mouth is dry/thirsty. overall she feels warm not cold.

treatment

LI 5- SI5-  ST 36 + LI 11 +

after 10 min pain in her finger improved about 80% and elbow pain around 50%.  LI 11 (opposite side) was reinserted closed to the tendon/bone. then pain in elbow improved overall 80%.

anxiety and stress can cause joint pains exp in hands
