it is the season. Lots of patients are calling and coming to get some relief from this yrs seasonal allergy sypmtoms. most of them have sneezing itchiness in eyes and throat, sinus congestion runny nose and so on.
some patients' symptoms get worse with cold air from air conditioners.
(Si ma points are effectieve or Treat it like cold in Lung)
Herbs: xiao qing long tang is good
if symptoms are triggered by pollen and dust
Modified Bu zhong yi qi tang seems to help along with acupuncture tx.
some of our patients received about 6 sessions (2x wk for 3 wks) prior to this allergy season
with si ma points. they just experience moderate symptoms such as slight congestion even when the pollen level is really high like this week.

Excessive Sweating
30 yr old patient sl thin body type
cc. excessive sweating for 2 yrs which gets worse with stress.
no sweat without stress/anxiety. patient works a lot of hrs a wk. appetite is good. bowel movement urination are fine. no palpitation but sl stuffiness in chest at times, sweating areas are palms feet slight in arm pit and legs. when he works out he sweats in different areas such as face and upper back and chest. dry throat, prefers cold water to drink.
upon exam palms are red.
medical history: Heart Murmur (congenital according to MD)
Tx: Dao chi san modified
no acupuncture tx

chronic neck pain
50 yr old female thin patient came in complaining of severe neck and upper back pain for 3 wks. she suffered from neck pain for the last 3 yrs or so but it became worse for the last 3 wks. her work is physical and laboring. pain is worse towards the end of the day. GB 21 and SI 11 are tender bilaterally. slightly worse with stress.
s/s: chronic digestion problems low appetite gatritis frequent urination without urgency, heavy feeling in whole body, slight weakness in all limbs, occational calf pain, headache in GB and UB channels in head, varicose veins in both legs, nausea and belching, epigastric distention after meal, always tired, painful/red eys with stress, body temperature is cold, prefers summer, PMS-(LBP) heavy bleeding for the first three days, stuffiness in chest with stress.

acupuncture during pregnancy
most patients are afraid of taking any pills or medications. a patient came due to bad headache for 1 wk. she never had such headache in the past. she is about 20 wk pregnant and is suffering from temporal and occipital headache along with stiffness in her neck.
she has been a little bit stressed out recently at work.
s/s: excessive thirst and dry throat. pressure / redness in eyes for a few wks w/o blurry vision dizziness
tx: LU 8 + then LV 2 -
headache about 80 % better and neck pain about 60%

throbbing in ears and sinus allergy
70 yr old female patient sl heavy with dark circles under her eyes came to my office for sinus allergy which accompanies severe throbbing pain in both ears. because of that she cant have quality sleep.
s/s: mucus in nose which is clear white in color, swelling in right eye, SOB, indigestion, swelling in bilateral hands with pain, occasional mucus in stool, itchy eyes itchy ears, low abdomen gas, overall weak sensation, history of chronic asthma, stomach acid - worse at night, nausea, low appetite, alt chills and fever, palpitation which is not necessarily worse with anxiety.
tx: sp 2 ht 8 + LV1 SP 1 -

second tx: si ma points bilaterally
